Skipper Doll
// //
Skipper Doll was born into the Barbie family in 1964 and she was an instant hit as Barbie's little sister..... She came in between a baby doll (for little girls)and the teenage Barbie doll (for older girls). Skipper was very savvy for parents to buy for their younger children that had out grown baby dolls.
She instantly came out with an additional 10 outfits that could be purchased over time to build your very own Skipper wardrobe! These outfits were beautiful

Pricing Barbie Dolls
// //
Pricing Barbie Dolls today can be an extremely hard task....... for the collector who has a large prized collection, no amount is too much to pay if they are acquiring a doll or dolls accessory that they need in their collection, especially if it is a rare item.
If collecting dolls is just a small hobby, then you have to think about how much you are prepared to pay for an item, or even if you really need it at this time...... Maybe you can utilize a lay-by

Bubblecut Barbie Dolls

//
Bubblecut Barbie Dolls are one of the most prized and collected of all Barbie dolls...... They are elegant, smart, sophisticated, gorgeous dolls and are one of my favorites.
There is the suggestion that all Bubblecut dolls are much the same with the exception of their hair color....... This is so not true, yes they have different hair colors but they also have different lip colors, and if you look hard enough, their eye color can differ also. Limbs, heads, torso's etc were

Barbie's fashions

Barbie's fashions have soared in popularity since the early 60's and incredibly she probably has the most vast fashion wardrobe in the known universe.......!
Many of her original fashions from the 60's are hotly sort after today by doll collectors and can come with equally hot price tags if in original excellent condition. Better yet if the fashion outfit is in mint condition, still in it's packaging, then the sky is the limit as to what some serious doll

Twist n Turn Barbie
// //
In 1967 Mattel took the amazing step of giving Barbie a face lift, rejuvenating the already beautiful doll to a stunning doll with real eye-lashes, a soft more modern hair style and a twist n turn barbie waist! Now Barbie was very posable and she came with a new fantastic wardrobe comprising of new fab outfits!
In this same year Mattel came up with a Trade-in program to market and sell their new line of dolls. Little girls everywhere were given the chance to trade in

Barbie Doll

The 1980's was the decade of big hair for the beloved Barbie doll....... Her hair was bigger, fuller and longer than ever! Barbie's hair is quite versatile and can usually take alot of washing, brushing and styling.
The dolls of the 80's have plastic fiber hair which can be styled very much the same as human hair...... The full, big haired dolls take well to haircuts and styling, but need the heat from a hair dryer to set hair effectively.

Barbie Doll 5th Edition exploded onto the toy market in 1961, still manufactured as # 850, or Barbie 5 to collectors. There were two dolls released, the beautiful Ponytail Barbie and the new stunning Bubble-cut (hairstyle) Barbie. The two dolls are identical in looks, have the same black and white bathing suit, white rimmed sunglasses, black shoes and pearl stud earrings. The dolls also have red nail and toe polish which looks stunning and just finishes off the dolls look.

Barbie Doll 2nd Edition
//
Barbie Doll 2nd Edition was released late in the year 1959 and was nearly identical to the Number 1 Barbie Doll, but with the now noticeable omission of the copper tubing in her feet. A new and much less expensive (than putting copper tubing in her feet) doll stand was designed and manufactured by Mattel. This new stand would hold Barbie upright and support her under the arms, this also looked much better with the doll in place.
This doll is known to collectors as the number 2

Number 1 Barbie Doll (as she is affectionately known to collectors by) came out on the 10th of March 1959 and now that very doll, manufactured as doll # 850, is extremely hard to find today, but not impossible. Barbie Doll Collecting
//
In 1959 no-one could envisage how the humble little blonde doll known as Barbie would ( in the next few years) explode into the wonderful world of Barbie Doll Collecting. Today, she is indeed an icon and we have the great company of Mattel to thank for many wonderful years of Barbie....
In 2009 she celebrated her 50th birthday and a great range of beautiful reproduction dolls were released, including reproductions of the much loved early editions from the 1960's.
